Approximate analog computing with metatronic circuits

Abstract Analog photonic solutions offer unique opportunities to address complex computational tasks with unprecedented performance in terms of energy dissipation and speeds, overcoming current limitations modern computing architectures based on electron flows digital approaches. The lack modularization lumped element reconfigurability photonics has prevented the transition an all-optical analog platform. Here, we explore, using numerical simulation, a nanophotonic platform epsilon-near-zero materials capable solving domain partial differential equations (PDE). Wavelength stretching zero-index media enables highly nonlocal interactions within board conduction electric displacement, which can be monitored extract solution broad class PDE problems. By exploiting experimentally achieved control deposition technique through process parameters, used our simulations, demonstrate possibility implementing proposed nano-optic processor CMOS-compatible indium-tin-oxide, whose optical properties tuned by carrier injection obtain programmability at high speeds low requirements. Our nano-optical integrated chip-scale, processing arbitrary inputs speed light.
